Britain was the "exclusive" manufacturing center for 25% of the world economy i.e its colonies, dominions and commonwealth eg Canada, Kenya, New-Zealand, South Africa etc etc etc.
Britain got raw resources like tea from Kenya , packaged it in UK and exported it primarily to its spheres of control mentioned above but also to Europe, Asia etc etc.

Britains motor vehicle's like Land Rover and motor cycles , steam Engine trains , carriages, trucks were garunteed to be bought exclusivly in its spheres of influence.

Germanys industrial growth angered Britain and Britain was in competition for the South American markets, Asian markets like Japan, North America like USA, Cuba etc. Thats when war was started.

Now North England "the former industrial hub " is dead. The former industrial towns in decay. Nobody in Africa, India or Canada buys landrovers for everyday work they prefer some Japanese pickup or Ford pickup, so Britain motor vhecile sector died and the remains sold off. Ever heard of British motorcycles? I bet the answer is no but just 100 years ago Braitain was a major manufacturer of motorcycles. Ever heard of ships built in England ? I bet the answer is no but England was a major naval power in all regards from manufacture to controlling the seas.

Now UK is a dying economy and even with mass immigration that boosts the national internal economy due to more people meaning more manufacturing of food for example which means more production of food packaging, more lorry drivers needed, more bus tickets bought, more tax from petrol and diesel sales, more revenue from income tax, more purchases of tooth paste etc etc etc Britain still only "grew" its economy by 0.1 % last year. The end seems near and a shrinking and reduction of the economy is garunteed. Things are going to get harder every year and Britain will slip further into a 2nd world country and in certain sctors even 3rd world if the economy keeps shrinking.

Mercantilism is not a good economic system. The economy is more than just what you manufacture.
