I'm not a lawyer, but in the USA it seems crimes involving hurting a woman are the worst to be charged with

violence against men and state, sort of a big deal, but again, like jeremy meeks, you can fuck up a 14 year old and still get no time served if it's your first offense.

drug charges, probably the worst of the above. but first time offenders usually don't get much time and can plea out to lesser bullshit depending on the state

but if you merely get accused of rape or violence against women... GG, your life is fucking over

even if you have the 50,000 to $100,000 needed to defend yourself, even after you beat it, you'll never get a job again. your own family might even not trust you and won't let you around your nieces / nephews for example.

of course, most men don't have 50 grand in cash lying around to do that so they get a public defender and they're fucked. or some can't even afford bail and sit in prison for the rest of their life, even if innocent.

Guilty until proven innocent. If you're poor, you're screwed. You're stuck with a public defender who has 50 other clients to work with. Even if you have savings in the high 6 figs and you hire a good lawyer who secures an acquittal, you'll be run down by bills for years.
