using a VPN doesn't make your internet slower by a big margin, i'd say vpnmaxxing is worth it if it means you don't have to show your government documents to websites that will or will not sell your data or store it in some storage that will definitely not get leaked

VPNs don't butcher your speed by a huge margin unless you have like below 10 Mbps speed, hell even tor can have decent speeds allowing for somewhat fast levels of streaming.

It is unfair that my Laptop camera has proved to be innefective, not synching to websites.
I might just buy a seperate Webcamera to be honest.

you'd rather trust third party websites do whatever the fuck with your biometric data which they do store (according to their policies) unlike what the government says otherwise.
A VPN is only like a couple quid a month or even free if you don't wanna pay. It just isn't worth the hassle of scanning your ID or face.
In my experience using these systems they don't even work well (i had to scan my items and face multiple times for verifying my bank account) and can be fooled, the ones that don't are probably collecting your data anyways.

It beats buying subscriptions for overpriced TV or subscription services when there's always just piracy but okay, I guess not everyone has to take the alternative routes.
Most people just prefer the most convenient option.
