The trouble is when we are incels, we are not experiencing the usual tropes of youth- the gfs, the parties, the milestones of life. Therefore we do not feel like our age. In many ways I feel younger than people my age because I am immature and have not achieved most milestones. However, most of the time I feel older than I am because I am far more cynical than I should be, which is where the "young old man" comes in. Because I already feel like it is over, I may as well be 30, 40, 50- whatever. I don't feel the hopeful optimism for the future that is supposed to come with youth.
