Serious I'll never understand using the "latest, flashy" things

There's some tech guys that Iikes to use the latest, most flashy things. Anything from latest Linux version to smart furnitures, to "new, beta" UI for YouTube apps.

I never get the obsession.

You ever ever downloaded python 3.11 (or whatever version), looking forward to download an amazing script that was released in the same year? Oops! Many of the dependents are outdated. There, another app blocked unless you want to spend hours and hours 'fixing' it, which is a whole can of worms.

Same with other latest things. I have no desire to debug for hours and hours just to fix one bug that I should not have to.

I'm a software developer; I have no desire to deal with such trouble after work. Give me the simplest, most 1990s looking, reliable piece of software you can find and I'm happy.

Oh and, an app being customizable means I'll likely press a wrong button that will take me down a rabbit hole to fix. Give me the most standardized, globohomo, bootstrap web and I'm set.

All the effort and waste of money for just to create tons of electronic waste, bloated websites and technology used for mass surveillance. After Windows 2000 and XP nothing to benefit from have come. My country used shitton of money for a new shitty program for medical records instead of switching to Linux and making a lightweight 90's like program for the same purpose. The money that could been saved by doing so could've saved lives.

Dang I agree. Really hate that modern software is actively being made worse by jews, with all the bloat and spyware and ugly ass UI. God I hate the "webdev-isms" that almost all software nowadays are prone to. I can't believe the norms and nerds all bought the propaganda that "sAaR!!!! aLL yOuR sOfTWaRe mUsT bE LaTeSt or u viL get WIRUS SAAAAR!!!!". I mean, I understand why shit has to be updated, but sometimes most of the time the "latest" versions are inferior to the one I am used to.

JFL literally look at Win11 vs Win10. Bloated, AI bloatware, retarded design choices, hidden common menus, and the increased surveillance. And goyim are falling for the crap that you must update it because of """security""", instead of refusing to do so, like with WinVista back in the day.

Lately I downloaded a WinXP ISO to test on a VM for nostalgia reasons, and goddamn, I was astonished at the size of the ISO, just 500 fucking megabytes. Can you believe that? Windows 10 IoT LTSC (the least bloated Win10 version) is like 5GB, and Win11 weighs even more. JFC, even the current Arch Linux ISO is 1.3GB, if you go look at the downloads page for older versions, you will notice that they follow a steady trend of the ISO becoming heavier with each release...
