What "photogenicity" indicates is largely your face's ability to cast shadows and appear defined and angular, i.e. it scales closely with bone structure and forward growth. You could maybe make a case for pictures making the ugly look even uglier and the attractive look even more attractive, but everyone's order on the scale is probably almost the same between life and its imitation.

Yep, same for me. Distance ameliorates lens distortion, so it's likely a better indication of how you look.

Very few people look good in every picture and you can also fraud a few looks points if you know what you are doing.
