I haven't gotten into anything serious myself, but I agree.

Ideally, this would be a safe space for losers who have nowhere else to turn, a place where one could say (almost) anything without judgement.

But in practice I don't think you could really expect more. The community is built on shared grievances, which isn't exactly the strongest foundation. Everyone has enough with their own problems to give a shit about others. Insulting others of similarly low status and who are easy targets is one of the few ways to elevate oneself as a big time loser. The ones who should actually be at the heel of our feet can feel like far more distant and abstract targets.

It is what it is. On the bright side, there are many things we can openly discuss here without being shut down. This is good enough for me.
