I'd still call computer science a field where 99% of the work is done by the 1%. The rest are just button-pushers. Leetcodecels have the edge in earning because of their memorization and pattern recognition. They're not better problem solvers by default.

I'm already closer to 30 than 25 and I've never in my life gotten through a job interview, just failed every single one of them and only ever managed to land work at positions where they were hiring anyone they could and weren't asking further questions after reading your CV. That after being the only guy in my social circle who went to and through university to have a shot at exactly the career options you've mentioned.

Studied just as if not harder, and more importantly longer, than most people I've finished college with. No idea why none of those jobs ever worked out. Out of the dozens of interviews I've had over the years, there were maybe two at most which I'll admit I blew. The others just went normally, I answered all of the questions, we talked about when I'd be able to start, here and there I asked something if I wanted to know it, and inevitably I just went home waiting for a rejection letter.

Really, it's just competition, there's dozens of candidates per position, and there's no need to give it to someone like me when better-looking and less options are at hand.

Nah, I haven't talked to many people there, and even if I did, all of us were in the same boat as fresh entrants on the job market anyway, though 80% of them were already doing better jobs than me.
