The point is that the punishments we give criminals aren't even that big of a deal, when we should be ruining criminals looks instead. I'd rather spend years in prison than have my looks ruined if I was attractive or average.

While it may deter some, it won't deter all. A lot of crime happens because the people are desperate and don't care about consequences, are too stupid to care about consequences, have a disorder like ASPD, or believe that they'll never get caught as someone else mentioned. People do things they shouldn't be doing all the time, fully cognizant of the consequences. It won't stop all crime. This is just a fantasy.
