The issue is that there is no purpose provided to people these days. The vast majority of normies are simply content with this...they thrive in a society of hedonistic pleasure and can only really feel content when they are thinking on purely selfish terms. The idea of believing in something greater than yourself has been distorted and twisted into a system of arbitrary pleasures. Purpose has been robbed of people and replaced with boundless narcissism, shopping culture and hollow dreams, people are living lives that they've been told to want and they're happy with that because it allows them to stop thinking and just indulge.
War, or any massive strife forces people to look within themselves and truly gauge how much they are worth as a person on a real and tangible level. In times of great unrest suddenly all those thousands of Facebook likes and Youtube subscribes are nothing but noise in a world that demands real action...all those hours spent posing for those selfies are utterly invalidated. People are adverse to looking at the world for what it truly is, simply because to do so would shatter the life of glass they have created and live on a daily basis. They would be forced to look at their history of shameless self-indulgent escapades as objective wastes of time and simply the product of being drunk on complicity.
This world isn't burning. It is ash. Anything worth fighting for died many years ago and now we all inhabit a husk of a world that those in power are merrily trying to hide from people because it allows them to remain in power. The smouldering remains of societies across the globe are a mockery, and those within it nothing but mannequins...blindly gawping and enjoying whatever they have been told to enjoy.
