In the past it was more or less given, that a man could have a family, a stable career and material possessions if he worked hard enough for those things. You could raise a family with single income and you didn't even need to be a high-earner. In today's world, not so much so. You'll own nothing and you'll be happy.
I was told that women wanted equality. Now it has become more obvious that women want the freedom to choose when they are a strong, modern and "liberated" woman, and when they want to switch back to 1950's dynamics and be a damsel in distress that needs to be coddled and provided for. Men aren't given that kind of privilege to choose, you only have one choice. To be traditionally masculine and to fulfill your gender roles. Even feminists expect this from men.
I was told that women aren't shallow. "Women don't care about looks or material possessions, just be yourself!"
I was told that women marry for love. Evidently they only marry for financial reasons. But when women get a raise and their salaries become higher than their male partners, women start serving divorce papers to their partners.
I was told that women like men. Evidently they only like conventionally attractive men and that's that. I was also told that women have different types of men they like, just another lie. Men have different body types they are attracted to: tall, short, muscular, obese, skinny to the point of anorexic.. women only have one body type they generally like. Tall with wide shoulders.
Its the gaslighting and the lies that get to me. I personally would have wished that I was blackpilled in childhood. Basically I wish I was told that very few men can achieve what most men want to achieve, because its not the reality of the situation anymore. I wish I was taught that women only like attractive men and that uggos don't need to bother.
