I was at the park today just relaxing on a bench minding my own business. Suddenly, I felt a slipper hit my head. I look behind and I see a group of teenage girls laughing at my misery. Here in Germany, you can't even go to jail if you are younger than 14, and even though a lot of kids aged 12 and 13 don't have the guts and braincells to do anything criminal, I feel like the amount of kids who know full well that they are untouchable is getting higher and higher.

Even if you are between 14 and 17, the system is geared towards rehabilitation and not towards punishment, so you most likely will just get a slap on the wrist.

I'm sure it's similar in other countries. Criminal children are a blind spot in our justice system because we tend to think of children as victims, not as offenders. I'm a big proponent of lowering the age of criminal responsibility. If you are 13 and you stab someone to death, you know full well what you did and you should rot in jail for the rest of your life.
