I've done this but it was *DEFINITLY* an accident. I just happened to go for a run at 3am wearing all black and jump out at a woman.

It is risky but yeah, it's not technically illegal if you aren't hurting them. Just don't utter threats or anything. As far as guns or whatnot, if they pull one, run in a zigzag pattern away, they have a smaller chance of hitting you under pressure, plus it's not legal to kill someone who's fleeing as they're no longer a threat to your safety and thus not self defense
