Linear games are underrated. I would take a well-crafted and immersive linear game over a giant open world that has all the depth of a puddle.

Free/Open world games are only good if the dev team is big enough to detail it. Like don't bother making a map to explore if you copy and paste assets and stuff
Elden Ring is exactly like that and normies eat it all up acting like it's not an Ubisoft open world game with souls combat. Game was trash and i don't even care enough to finish it since only 20% of the game has hand made content. Ai slop is future of AAA gayming.

Based, honestly I hate open world slop not gonna cap. And I lack motivation so getting locked or softlock kills my drive. I also hate retarded games that are hard for the sake of hard. DSIII is my favorite Dark Souls game because its actually fun instead of dickbreakingly hard. If I wanted that I would talk to women lmao
Yeah and they make so many updates that it becomes hard to keep up. What's the point of making video games that are like as long as the anime/manga One Piece or something lol. The hype will just eventually die out anyway if carried out for too long.

Yeah, especially gaming as an Incel (where there'll be times where you have no energy for it). Like why should gaming require effort? When you just want to play for fun? It's probably cringe, but that's part of the reason why I'll be getting a PS5 soon instead of playing PC games. I just want to also go straight to the action.
I also hate that you have to grind to such high levels to enjoy some of the good stuff. I suppose in moderation, it's fine, but nothing crazy like the MMORPGs.
Open world games are tedious to me.
Linear levels are only fine if the gameplay mechanics tend to have higher skill-ceiling or cinematic based, unless it's pretty much boring.
Open world games are incredibly fun if the world is interesting, rewards exploration, and cryptic discoveries. Deepwoken is a prime example.
Moving from lazy algorithm generation to the AI generation will be almost unnoticeable for average consooomer
