I think modern Doom games have diarrhea tier shit soundtrack

The original Doom (which was actually created using synth) sounds more organic, raw, and gritty than the modern ones.
The music of classic Doom is based on classic metal, while the new ones are based on subhuman modern metal.

3DO version of Doom has a band doing the soundtrack.
Doom for PSX/Saturn has very unique music and some really subtle sinister and melancholic tracks.

Synths are cooler

I enjoy metal but it can be a bit much, I think of it as audio clutter when it takes over the scene instead of enhances it and especially when it overpowers the audio queues, something modern games in general have the opposite problem zero or only background music and even then it's just some bullshit without a melody.

Nah old doom ost puts me to sleep while new one energises me and want me to murder more demons. Anyway Quake 2 did it the best with ost anyway.
