I am sometimes prone to leftist ways of thinking but my reason for it is personal and somewhat selfish, it is because I fit in better with leftists and "intellectuals" than I do with ordinary people or right-wingers who usually see me as a freak or weirdo type of person.
Like some of the responders in this thread are saying, the mid-2000s and early 2010s were a different time, the conservative Christian patriarchy was still leading the hetero-normative mainstream culture in America, and American media transmitted worldwide including to my country, it was so-called "liberal intellectuals" and artists and techies who were the counter-culture, people who had grown up on [adult swim], Newgrounds Flash cartoons, anime, videogames (particularly skateboarding games, Valve titles like Half-Life and Portal and games that allowed you to role-play like World of Warcraft and D&D) and 4chan, and bought into the atheistic STEM meme of ~science~ and ~logic~ and had a distinctive doughy facial phenotype, wearing glasses and growing out their beards if male, they also wore trenchcoats and/or fedoras to school and unironically ate hot pockets and cheetos and drank Mountain Dew.
It seems as though over the years, during and sometime after Obama's presidency, the original conservative Christian patriarchy that was leading cultural norms in America and subsequently the West at the time was slowly dismantled and replaced with, at first, a kind of moderate contemporary form of feminism and egalitarianism, which then snowballed over the years into the SJW nightmare we see today when the movement, which was originally comprised of idealists that were open to debates, was hijacked by psychotic zealots who weaponised the strength of their emotion, when I was younger I understood and even to some extent identified with the meme of the misfit bugman/soyboy or bugwoman/soygirl who has a huge chip on their shoulder over growing up in a small town filled with "racists/homophobes" and all the rest of it, so before they go to college or uni they start getting a taste of SJW culture in Harry Potter and similar things, then they go to the city for college or uni and all of their hate and resentment towards the people that bullied them is preyed upon by the Communist groups at college or uni, and from there they become full-blown dyed-hair harpies or metrosexual male-feminist cucks who are unable to really fit in anywhere else or with anyone else apart from their fellow progressive cultists in the city.
One thing that really stood out to me though was that when I myself went to uni, it was actually the more indoctrinated people from either end of the political spectrum, whether they were angry SJWs or conservative right-wingers, that disliked me the most, I got on pretty well with the centrists, I suspect that it is a similar phenomenon experienced by ugly/low-status/low-value men that I have read about on here, where the lefties see us as racist/homophobic/xenophobic/conservative/patriarchal/small-minded bigots and confuse us with the normies and popular kids that bullied them in school, and the right-wingers see us as weak/cowardly/effeminate/queer gay faggot/nigger-loving/race-traitor freaks or weirdos and lump us in with the lefties. Or, maybe both of these kinds of people are just afraid of what we have to say and want us to stay quiet so that they can maintain the illusory social power that they hold.
I also think that the people who are happy with the world that we live in simply cannot, will not, or are incapable of envisioning another way of life, it is easy to say "things used to be better in the past" but is this really the case for incel-type dudes, I saw some old footage on YouTube of street life in my country sometime around the World Wars, it seemed like a high-trust and racially and culturally unified life and people in the comments were saying "these were the good old days", but all I could think of was, "where are the misfits?" Maybe the case is that there were no real misfits back then in a society like that because everybody knew their place and knew how to handle conflicts and disagreements, maybe the "eggheads" were picked on a little bit for being odd, eccentric or good with numbers or words but they still got to participate in society through marriage and starting a family or by excelling in their field of work or study. I just could not see myself living in a community or society like that, though perhaps this is the contemporary brainwashing talking, without definite and relatable links to the past there is no definite confirmation that life was better back then. Maybe life has always sucked but throughout the decades, centuries and millennia it has come in different forms and flavors, in tribal and medieval civilisations there was constant war, famine, disease, slavery and a brutal feudal system where the Chad knights and lords could LARP as chivalrous gentlemen to win m'lady's hand while killing and enslaving normie and incel peasants with impunity. It's all about power, maybe even leftism.
