My fellow Breaking Badcels all know I've started re-watching it again, and ofc when people re-watch something they pick-up on stuff they didn't quite catch the first time.

One thing which just sort of hit me, was this fact: Walt was a literal chemistry genius who was initially involved in helping start a company which went on to become a literal billion-dollar tier one, and had his own research cited by a Nobel Prize winner. So how the fuck could a guy with this level of expertise, intelligence, and general scientific brilliance go from that to teaching literal Highschool Chemistry? And newsflash, as long as you know how to teach in general you can more or less "teach" anything in the US. One teacher I had for History told me they taught English one year & literally just read from the book they had & the general outline the State & School District planned for them.

And then I realized it, Waltuh unironically has a bad personality. Now yes I know, he had tons of shit stuff happen to him, but the point I'm trying to convey here is that he was just unable to work with anyone in general. Walt simply just has an ego which prevents him from co-operating with anyone, if someone punches him or he perceives them to have to or even suspects they might, he punches them back 5x harder. We see this highlighted when he works with Jimmy/Saul, Mike, and Gus- all of whom are within his age range to some degree. He just constantly clashes with them, which explains why he probably chose to work with Jesse since he knew he could control him.

This is why Waltuh taught HS, it's because he wanted authority & control which ofc just his age & title alone grants him in the Public School system. Walt genuinely is a shitty human being, who yes did some based stuff but as clearly shown by the show, had an ego the size of Mount Everest, which was his downfall.

But he still let his students walk all over him. I think he just didn't want to leave his comfort zone and look for a different job

Walt has strong pride Elliot fucked him over and he hates him for it so when he offered to help pay for his Cancer treatment he refused it all throughout the show you see how extreme Walt's ego is

This was unironically one of the most aggravating things about breaking bad when I watched it: His fucking narcissism. Nigga, every 2nd episode hes basically on the brink of winning, he has the money, he can exit the game. And then he just doubles down on fucking everything up. I wanted to fucking murder him so many times. The self-sabotage is nerve wrecking.

There is another movie that does this well, its that Adam Sandler movie "Uncut Gems." I know it's Adam Sandler, but this is one of his good ones. Basically, the main character constantly self-sabotages. It is the most cortisol inducing movie ever, I swear I lost years of lifespan watching this character destroy himself.

A lot of teachers in general are like that. I got the impression from some of my teachers that the reason they teach is because they enjoy having any kind of power over people. They enjoy being able to shout at kids and punish them for stuff.

I don't think he was initially like that though, I think it just took the world constantly shitting on him before he realized something had to give.

Like the early scenes when he's working at the car wash, and the Chad's and stacies are making fun of him.

Sure he has a massive ego, but that very ego is what pushed him to the level he got to.

If he didn't he would have just continued working at a school as a betabuxx for that whore skylar. She would have cheated on him anyway because she's a bitch.

One teacher i had in HS was similar to him in a way. At one point he worked in a nearby military base or some shit and he told me he was "one step away from power". Then something happened and he ended up being a teacher at my shit HS, kek.

He had a massive ego too and was a garbage teacher to boot, everyone in my class hated him.

Thats why i didnt like when they did the retrospective scenes in later seasons. Like the one when he buys the house and you can see that he "was always like this" and that life just neutered him.

I liked the idea that he had his awakening more and that he really thought that highschool job would be "just for now" and then Walt jr. happened

Being an organic now waltuh..

He must be controlled by the founder to know what it is like

I always saw him as the protagonist on first watch. And he did decide to quit after 80 mill. But he unnecessarily screw up his relationship with gus and got Mike killed

And still his students didn't take him seriously

Yeah at some small private schools here in the US, you have one teacher who teaches multiple subjects. Like one guy might teach the science, history, English and PE classes. And his college degree might be in Golf Course Landscaping or something. :feelskek:

A lot of high school teachers are like this, I was suprised how laid-back the professors are in college, at least compared to high school teachers.
Almost all high school teachers that I remember were extremally anal and authoritorian about their meme jobs, in fact most teachers in middle and elementary were aswell.

Pretty much why I think most of the people who teach kids in elementary/middle/high school pick that job, it's all about feeling like you have authority. Kinda similar to how a lot of nurses are fucked in the head because this jobs attract people who find prospect of lording over sick/vunerable people to be appealing.
