Well, the Bible says that blasphemy against Jesus can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the holy spirit can never be forgiven, and is an eternal sin. I think that's the omnipresent part of God in Christianity, so Jesus not being present has nothing to do with it.

Well, religion is a silly cope, but the main reason behind the religious opposition against suicide is that only some invisible guy in the skies has a right to take life (unless you kill in self-defense or war, etc). Also, once you kill yourself, you can't ask for forgiveness. Technically, if Hitler didn't kill himself, but instead asked for forgiveness, he would be floating on the clouds now.
