The Qur'an specifically has a passage that says that men must grow long hair, let me find it.
I did find that many common hairstyles are haram, for example:

(Al-Qaza hair).
Well, Islamic rules basically state "Either shave all of your hair or grow all of your hair, no Inbetweenersees":
https://islamqa.info/en/answers/10516/how-should-a-mans-hair-be-cut
Praise be to Allah.
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibraaheem was asked about that and he said:
With regard to hair, the Prophet’s guidance is either to leave it all alone or to remove all of it. He did not shave part of it and leave part of it.
What some Muslims do, which is to shave part of the head and leave part, is the qaza’ (tuft) which was forbidden by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
So your religion won't necessarily save you, but I do remember some Hadiths that specifically tell men to let them grow their hairs "beyond their ears" and that Niggers are cursed to forever have short hair (which apparently made them lesser).
