I have dozens of fruit flies living in my kitchen and they won't go away

It started when I left food too long on the table, that attracted a handful. I have since removed the food, removed any trash, cleaned every surface and dishes etc. But they just keep lingering. They have multiplied and there are now about 50 sitting on every surface in my kitchen.

Imagine if I invited a foid over, when she opens the door dozens of flies would fly in her face and she would literally think I live on a garbage dump. Fruitflies are ruining my life
