Regarding love, I'd say that it's an illusion just by looking how it ends for most passionate stories. Sure, some people manage to escape the habitual twist (separation), but the few do not describe the many and honestly, these cases (people staying together) aren't only about love. A kind of weird friendship based on true understanding was also born and unlike love, I do think that friendship is not an illusion.
Though, finding it to be sincere is extremely rare nowadays.

I won't take that back.
What I consider is that there are different kind of illusions. I agree with saying that in a way, everything is an illusion except if it's a mathematical object (solid demonstration behind it, and still, there's bias in sciences unfortunately). Everything is an illusion as you have to get your own interpretation of it.
Sure it's not the typical definition of an illusion, and I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, but that's how I see it.

About love, I specifically mentionned it as it's super destructive, and lots of people fall for it.

I have ambivalent feelings regarding my mother. My mother was a domineering figure. For most of my life she forced me to work hard and when I refused, she threatened me. Sometimes I was physically abused for no reason, sometimes I was physically abused after sperging out. I caused suffering for her, because I got into trouble. She was always worried about me. Sometimes however, she couldn't stop belittling me, she pulled me to pieces. She was overprotective. She wouldn't allow me to socialize with my peers, but only because she thought that trouble could emerge from social interactions. Sometimes she locked me in the basement/my room. But she's very proud of my achievements. Sometimes I wonder if people only love my achievements, because they aren't capable of loving a pathetic creature like me. Sometimes I wonder if my own relatives only love the surrogate and not the person behind said achievements.
