The universe's indifference to our suffering is rooted in its vast, unfeeling nature. It operates through laws of physics and cosmic processes that are entirely impersonal. Stars form, explode, and die, galaxies collide and drift apart, black holes consume everything in their path. These events happen on scales so immense that human life, with its emotions and experiences, is a barely detectable blip.
Our suffering is not a factor in the grand unfolding of the cosmos. The universe doesn’t adjust or take notice of our joys, pains, or struggles. Whether we are suffering or thriving, the Earth continues its rotation, the stars continue to shine, and time moves forward relentlessly. This realization can be a sobering reminder of how small we are in the face of cosmic forces.
Time, as it flows, has no pause button for grief or loss. Days turn into nights, seasons change, and years pass without regard for what happens in the lives of living beings. Our struggles, no matter how deeply felt, exist within a reality where time moves forward without acknowledging them.
The sun rises after a sleepless night, and spring follows a harsh winter, indifferent to whether we find peace or not.
There is no God. No heaven. No hell. Just the endless ticking of a clock.
