I was always under the impression that these were seen as the best classic Zelda games. Specifically Ocarina of Time. I first played it when I was 15 and I've replayed it multiple times since.
People say that Hyrule Field weighs it down and I don't see how? Hyrule Field isn't the main focus of the game.
There's also complaints about the combat system. Personally, I think the combat system is fine. People still praise Final Fantasy 7 when it's combat system is far more boring than Ocarina of Time's. The combat in Ocarina serves its role and remains decently entertaining untill the end.
My criticisms of Ocarina of Time would be directed to a bit too many block puzzles, disappointing final boss, (per usual when it comes to Zelda) and the spirit temple being a bit too easy. Otherwise it's easily an 8/10.
