Gaming I bought a bunch of PC games today

They were on sale, or free in Daggerfall Unity's case. I'm downloading them now, might take all night, which is just as well, as I was planning to cry myself out tonight, anyway.

I got the original Bioshock, some game called Amid Evil which looks really cool, Enclave, Lands of Lore 3, and a few others. I'm not sure I can run Bioshock until I get a better system, I'll have to check later, but I'm looking forward to digging into some of the other ones, when they're done downloading.

I don't know about Amid Evil but DUSK which is from the same guys is a great retro-style FPS.

Tried that several times in Steam when I had internet outages in the past. But Steam requires you to be connected online to turn it to offline mode, as I found out the hard way.

Fuck all DRM, including steam.

I only experienced that when I didnt log in for many days and started my PC without internet. Usually it lets you go into offline mode if you aren’t connected to the internet

I hate Steam. And I used to pirate, but I don't have the patience for that anymore. And things didn't always work right with that, either. At least with GoG, I know I'm getting something that works, and that I can backup and use anytime.

But if you pirate a gog game you get exactly the same thing as if you would buy it because gog has no DRM

Yeah, but I like to support GoG as a platform precisely because they sell games without DRM, and I absolutely despise DRM in all forms, even so-called "benign" DRM, like Steam.

I got the original Bioshock. I've also never really been into FPSs that much, and wanted to see what all hubbub was about. Bioshock was recommended to me by my brother.

I don't get people that buy a bunch of games only when they're on sale. Clearly you're intention with this is to save money so why not go the extra mile at that point and get them for free by pirating them?

Because I don't want to pirate them. That involves extra effort that I'm not willing to put in. It's easier to part with $3 than to part with 3 hours of my day.

When I still considered myself a "gamer" I would just go onto my go to repack site where I'd find the game I wanted, which they usually had, download all the parts necessary, unzip the file, install the game through the setup and begin playing the game. I usually pirate my games. Sometimes pirated copies have disabled features like multiplayer so I just end up getting them on sale

I never play multiplayer, so that was never a problem for me. I just don't like dodgy downloads and torrents, and if I can save a few bucks getting the legit ones, then why not.
