This may, on the surface, seem like a quip along the lines of "people are stupid," but I want to make it clear that my thoughts are beyond that. Many people would say that one of the traits that defines human beings is our ability to reason and be rational. A core tenet of the Enlightenment is the implication or belief that humans are rational agents in the world and have the ability to use reason to guide their behaviors. Therefore, an emphasis on education would result in a more utopian society, as education would lead to a virtuous citizenry. As time progressed, however, these ideas, which date back to the Enlightenment, like many Liberal ideals, seem more and more untenable. It's now clear to me that humans are predominantly deluded creatures first and foremost, and whatever reason that does exist in some individuals is either utterly wasted or irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
1. Humans are first and foremost egotistical. The ego is the first thing to fall when competing with reason. Self-worth is impossible to reconcile with reason for 99.99% of people. The vast majority of individuals are unremarkable and will be outcompeted in nature by those in the highest percentiles in various traits. True knowledge of one's ineptitude, however, isn't livable, so people resort to comforting lies.
2. Next, I want to examine the origin of behaviors. Behavior doesn't originate in some vacuum of reason-based choice. Destiny, however, is guided by subconscious impulse, which is later explained away as genuine choice. Modern science is incompatible with notions of "Free-will". The mere existence of the subconscious mind itself completely undermines "Free-will". Your conscious mind is constantly subject to being berated by all sorts of impulses and inputs. It's not possible for rationality to solely guide behavior in this context. By the time the conscious mind even has the chance to evaluate environmental data, the nervous system has already decided.
3. If humans are primarily reason-based creatures, why are we so superstitious and religious? Humans are naturally religious; religion and spirituality are found in every single culture in one form or another. Modern Western Society is a historical outlier, only made possible by technological advancement, removing death from everyday life. But that doesn't negate the superstitious nature of humans. Many are still religious or "spiritual," and a large number of people report believing in a higher power. Astrology and Tarot Cards are notably popular among foids today. The popularity of conspiracy theories is also another example of a modern manifestation of superstition. Needless to say, most people don't solely derive their worldviews from empiricism.
4. The basis of existence itself is irrational. Why must we exist? Why must life exist? Why does the universe exist? What purpose does any of it serve? There is no purpose, and there is no reason. Life perpetuates simply to propagate. But what value does the individual life have in this context, all of the effort over a lifetime just to pass it down to another over and over again? Why must one reproduce? There is no reason other than mere instinct. In fact, there are a myriad of reasons to not have children, as you're forced to slave away for 18 years at minimum to support them. Our existence is not hinged on some rational justification, it's just animals doing what they're programmed to do. Individuals who expressed too much of an ability for reason to override impulse were filtered out. Our existence doesn't delieniate from a rational contingency, but rather from hormones causing animals to mate. Reason's ineffectual nature in humans ultimately stems from our origin in sexual reproduction.
None of this is real news to any of us BP scholars. Foid behavior is purely based on instinct, or as they'd call it, " women's intuition". Why do Betabuxxers endlessly slave away to print bux for their roasties? The same reason, instinct. Rational thought and these people's behavior never intersect. My motivation for this post is to undermine Humanism, Liberalism, and Intellectualization of the human condition. We're worse than you think.
