Any time someone reach for me or past me or even raise their arm a little fast I always flinch like crazy due to years of abuse and bullying as a child.

I'm 24 now and I still flinch, I had a job interview and after the interview the man doing it when to shake my hand but he came in way too fast and I think the flinch caused me to fail it. It was going alright I felt but it's been a minute since then so I might have flubbed it.

Low-T trait maybe

Over

Unfortunately, I can relate. I always feel like people are judging me or preparing to scare/harm me in some way which in turn makes me flinch uncontrollably

I'm the same way. Sometimes I'll flinch while walking past people on the street just cause of the way they're moving their hands

I always flinch. There's nothing you can do about it

Just be more confident after years of bullying inkie. Try 'therapy' and drug yourself so you can be numb and take more punishment along with side effects of poison.

Progressive desensitization maybe, theres even an old school boxing exercise for flinching which would probably work well but you would need a partner for it, if you dont have a friend who could help with it just join a boxing gym and ask the prof you wanna fix the flinching problem, other than that fix your diet by integrating tons of animal foods(butter heart red meat liver eggs) would raise your testosterone too which the other guy talked about

Its normal, Your brain is trying to survive.

You went thru hell guy

This.

But actually, his brain was conditioned amd can't even tell apart friend from foe.

I've had to deal with this til 29 or something.

It got better over time.

I left school at 16, and it took be thirteen fucking years to somewhat get over it and to somewhat trust people.

His life surely was hell, as was mine.

PTBS from bullying will probably never be recognized though, so we're shit out of luck.

Psychiatry in a nutshell. Fuck shrinks, therapists and any other useless fucker who works in the “mental health” industry.

Hey man i had something similar but i became a muay thai fighter and its gone. You don't need to join a martial arts gym, you can look up exercises for this on YouTube

Basically desensitize yourself to the movement, its easily fixable but takes some time.

Get punched in the face repeatedly with your eyes open

I hate (and pity) flinchers.

As a multi-century road biker holding my line next to semi trucks and wide vehicles, I never had the luxury of flinching!

For me, flinching = death!

This has carried over to my walking life too....

Although, I do flinch (drop) during very loud explosions. But not average gunfire noises. Super loud lightning strikes for example....

Martial arts and firearm sports can reduce flinching.

If you finch, you miss! (And starve!)

Although, well-timed flinches - out of the way of incoming strikes - is more of a programmed reflex than an nervous flinch.
