Don't be male, don't be ugly, don't be autistic.
applying in person is the way to go, because online is too competitive
I've been applying to jobs for more than a year now, jobs of all kinds including the shitty ones. It depends. You need to do both. There is competition either way. Also, send emails to places that interest you even if it seems like they are not hiring and they don't put an announcement online, that way you might have less competition (I got a few interviews this way).
idk man how tf did you guys find a job
Me? I don't. I lost count of how many interviews I've been to. Just today I was called for one by an Ice cream shop where I had sent my resume. Judging by how it went, any other person would think that the job is guaranteed, but I know from experience that for me it's different. I never heard back from anyone, except once when I was a student and I got lucky and I got hired at a restaurant 5/10 hours per week from an announcement on Facebook. I've never worked more than that.
I'm just not part of the flow. I know people who have done multiple of these entry level jobs, without having ever been to an interview. Usually they are set up by friends or acquaitances. When I tell these people about how many interviews I've been to, they don't believe it. And yet I'm the one who's jobless still.
I'm thinking of either getting an autism diagnosis (I must surely have some sort of handicap, even if its only effect is being unable to pass a job interview) and then get a job with the accomodations, or seriously build my skills and get a real career rather than min wage shit, but I still need to get one such job to fund it in the meantime.
