rhetorical thread title but I'm still disappointed that the zog would do this so blatantly. at least in the George Floyd case it was pretty clear cut second degree murder. but this is a whole other level. The other officer pulled his gun out too lol. I mean Massey did set the pot of water down and so forcing Sean Grayson to do time is justified, but nothing about this case fits second degree murder. Voluntary manslaughter is a much more accurate description of it and even forcing Grayson to do a couple years in prison would be a major deterrent.
Reminds me of the Sammy Younge Junior case (uppity tyronelite repeatedly bullying some photo aged redneck including lookist flavored comments about the redneck's age). younge literally threatened the guy with a golf club and then decided to leave the scene and got shot while fleeing which seems like a classic case of voluntary manslaughter. But of course the prosecutors went for a murder charge. It didn't stick and nobody expected it to, but it's still a disgrace that they felt comfortable going for it symbolically. Voluntary manslaughter probably wouldn't have stuck either, but it would have been much more likely to get a conviction.
