The person I know was laying cement.
Truck drivers make a lot as well, and after several you can buy yuor own truck and make way more money as well.
Maybe look into some kind of trade, wayyyyy better than working minimum wage and you will easily find a job if you are decent (just keep up with work). But this depends on if you are able to leave the work force for a few years to train and get apprenticeships. My friend made over 100k while doing apprenticeships alone.
