I was around that age the first time I got a full time job. Resume was complete lies (even my hobbies). I'm lucky they didn't check references.
Im 29 and only have exp. as a part time web dev job. I have 2 MS degrees though and did 2 internships, so education is also a factor
If youre that so concerned about finding a job, move to the big cities. Its hell out here dealing with these racist pieces of shit JBW foids, but there are tons of jobs. Thats what people have been doing for over two centuries on this entire planet.

Better than being 45, study for some extra qualifications to help get higher paying jobs leading to a decent career would be my advice. You still have time and are fairly young. Work experience in shit jobs is useless anyway and having that on your resume/CV can actually hurt your prospects more.

Not extremely screwed, you just need to find a job desperate enough for help. In that situation you're fairly behind in life but it's definitely not impossible to fix. If meth addicts can get jobs anyone can get a job.
