I haven't found social media to be that necessary. Only WhatsApp and Discord. What did become virtually indispensable is smart phones. I didn't really want one, but pretty much had to. That said, I pretty much only use mine for forced two-factor authentication (2FA can suck my dick as well) which does make things impractical for me every now and again.

It's amazing how 2 decades ago or even a bit over a decade ago before the blackberry phone came out only losers would do online dating or even require the Internet to socialize, now things have reversed & no online presence is seen as weird.
