Desktop or laptop ofc.

Been working alot recently, so I usually leave it off during the long hours of inactivity

I shut it off anytime it’s not in use

I use it all the time, I'm talking to you on it

I leave my PC on like it's a server lol

I guess I don't really see a major reason why not. It doesn't use that much power anyway as it's only a small machine.

Also it is usually performing some functions while it's not being used.

My PC will remain on until I go to sleep

Shutdown (and disable "Quick Restart" fucking Microsoft) every time I leave my PC unless I'm downloading something and I set auto shutdown. Leaving components running forever is bad.

I always thought that constantly turning them off and on again was worse for them than just leaving them running...

Just something I heard. I'm not entirely sure why.

I don't know what quick restart is :feelsStudy:

There's the belief that starting a PC causes a spike in power and temperature fluctuations that can damage things. Maybe this was true in the past, but not really anymore. Plus there was more fear that if you shut down your PC back then, it may not work again.

There's validity to lowering restarts on hardware like air conditioners with compressors as there is a high power draw when it starts, I guess that's where this belief came from.

Regardless, I think components are made with continuous running in mind. Servers and that.

I doubt it does major harm and I kind of think life's too short to worry about it.

I don't think restarts will kill it either though.

As a footnote man I missed talking about technology!

I used to spend ages on tech forums so this feels good XD

It wakes up with me and sleeps when i do

I actually never use sleep, lol

I find it strange.

My brain can handle ON and OFF. Sleep is this weird limbo state that I can't compute. XD

Do you mean leaving the PC on unattended? I never do that.

But the PC is basically turned on every moment I am awake and I use it.

Yeah I just leave mine on like a server.

When I am not using it I lock it of course.
