How many of you are Paradox grand strategy enjoyers?

I know that "map games" tend to attract vast number of truecels, especially if they relate to history in some way.

I, myself, play CK2 and HOI4. Contemplating trying some of the others as well.

Imho? Eu5. In Eu5 there's just much more to play with. Only thing I miss are mission trees. The reactive economy is awesome, proximity and control mechanics are fenomenal, theres just so much fun to do with pops, trade is much more usefull, blockades and embargoes finally feel like they do something. And getting rid of mana was probably the best decision.

Yeah those are sometimes my favourite games although I've taken a break from them .

I also used to play a game called supremacy world war 3 dam was that game fun , i remember spending weeks just messaging and convincing everyone in the game to attack one another alongside other things and telling them I have their back and then I would just take all their territories

I like EU4 and Vic2. I tried to get into Vic3 but I overwhelmed a bit. I am waiting now to have enough money for EU5 so yeah, a huge fan

I play HOI4 but only with mods. I'm considering trying Eu4 cause it looks fun but I know if I get into it I'll waste another four years of my life on that

Years ago I played CK2 and EU4 in the 100-200 hours range (fewer than most hardcore fans). Recently I have gone back into PC gaming and I'm starting to play EU4 again and also Stellaris. I also bought HOI4 in the recent steam sale.

I really enjoy carefully reading the tooltips and slowly finding how all the systems work with each other. I also like that they're more about simulation than about winning like the Civ games. I find them comfy to play while watching something on a secondary screen.

Paradox DLC pricing is painful though.

I had a full version of CK2 but lost it due to it being on my old computer, and the site I downloaded it from was taken down. I downloaded another one from a more obscure site, but this one knows it's pirated so all the DLCs are blocked. It's still CK2 and so it's still quite playable and enjoyable, of course, but I'll have to find a way to play the full game again.

HOI is very fun if you like WWII. You essentially get to simulate WWII on a large scale and make divergences from history on your own accord.
