what counts as jihad is a proper war. some say it always has to be waged by the caliph (which is a problem because there is no caliph) while some groups disagree. iirc you don't need a caliph to wage defensive jihad. i remember a while back there was a fatwa on the obligation of jihad against israel by the IUMS, but that's not a declaration of jihad in of itself rather it is a declaration jihad being mandatory in this situation.

its an end times prophecy. the war with the jews is one of the signs of the end times. it has been taken to be synonymous with the war with dajjal, as there is a similar hadith with reference to dajjal, and the first to join dajjal are the jews. additionally, there are some people who think the current situation in Palestine is the war with the jews, but that's more of a common belief than a scholarly opinion.
its not advocating for total jew death, its a prophecy and not a prescription to do it now.
