How do westernized ethnics all have subtle accents?

Even though English may be their first and only language, you can’t help notice there is a subtle accent. Has anyone thought about it?

1) Most learn English first from their parents, and enter the schooling system with an accent. They spend the rest of their formative years unlearning said accent, but bits of it can vestigially remain.

2) A lot of what you might ascribe to a distinct “ethnic accent” is just a result of different morphology regarding the size, shape, and structure of the mouth and respiratory system
