I've been to a few concerts (alone) and while listening to music live is much better than through a cd or your phone, the rest was pretty much horrible.

The fact that there are people that go to concerts just because they "like the atmosphere" and don't care for the music is fucking mental to me

i can do concerts, because no one really cares if you stand by yourself and don't talk to them at all, as long as there's shit to watch on stage.

but bars, unless i'm just going there for food and then leaving, are a fucking mystery to me. how people sit at a bar and talk to random people and enjoy it is strange.

Been to hundreds of shows over the years and enjoyed most of them. They can get awkward between sets if you're just standing around by yourself. Sometimes I'll drink at the bar or chat with someone who's wearing a shirt of a band I like. For example, maybe I'd strike up a conversation with @AAAAAAAAAAAcel about Porcupine Tree if he was wearing a shirt like his avatar.

Regular bars (NOT nightclubs) were a lot better 20 years ago when I was in college because drinks and food specials were actually affordable back then. Now I go out a lot less because it's more expensive and I don't have as much tolerance for that kind of environment when I know there's a 0% for a repulsive oldcel like me to attract anyone.
