Well, it does have an effect if you use an actual hard drive and not an SSD or so because the data gets fragmented on the hard ddrive over time despite all the defragmentation that you may do regularely. It is not perfect.
Over time it will take longer for pictures and videos to load.

150g is nothing, 40 min of VR stuff can take 10 to 20gb. I have an external drive with 4tb filled and I have to prune content regularely.
I have 350 GB (ish) of 720p vids.
well if it's just videos then it's not surprising. my collection isa mix of videos and pics, high and low resolution
i have almost 10,000 files in my collection, scarcely a single file exceeds 500mb.
