I used to be a huge stranger things fan til I realized how horrible the writing was. Normies attempt to group it in with ACTUALLY GOOD television media like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Godfather, A Bronx Tale, and The Sopranos and it pisses me off due to how horrible the writing was in Stranger Things.
For Comparison:
The majority of these shows I listed has:
- More consistent character writing than Stranger Things (ie: Mike turning into some ND fag who never talks, Robin losing all her wit and sarcasm and Max turning from someone with a personality to just a straight up bitch)
- Less plotholes than Stranger Things (Vecna being in Season 1 only explains the telekenisis but NOT the fact that he normally uses foot soldiers, what the fuck??)
- Actually having a consistent aesthetic and theme
- Advancements in the plot that DONT make it feel like a different show
Where the problem in it's writing comes from:
- In many interviews with the Duffer Brothers (the writers of Stranger Things) have claimed to planned everything from the start. In my opinion, this is complete bullshit because if this claim is true, they are either mentally disabled or genuinely retarded. The writing for each season has gotten worse and worse which sucks because Stranger things could have worked as a show.
TLDR; The ego of the Duffer Brothers (the writers of Stranger Things)
Where Minecraft Story Mode comes into play:
I'm just gonna say it, MCSM is so much better in terms of writing. The plot advancements make sense, the character development works and has actual reasoning and the writing stays constistent within the laws of the universe
