Cold facts in TV4 have recently published a report about the incel movement in Sweden. Incels – guys whose sex life is non-existent, which they like to blame us women for. The misogyny these men engage in seems, according to themselves, to be a result of the so-called involuntary celibacy, which so many of these guys "suffer" from. Rather, I mean that it is the other way around, and that there is no such thing as involuntary celibacy.
In the report, we get to meet, among other things, the twenty-eight-year-old virgin "Adam", who calls himself an incel. Adam is seemingly a completely "ordinary" guy, but describes his life as mostly isolated and sitting at home. After he came into contact with the incel movement, he has found a community, which he describes as a togetherness where men can be united through their unified view of women, exclusion and sex.
Misogyny dominates
In the most extreme incel forums, to say the least, misogyny dominates, and opinions that argue that women would be far too selective, superficial and ignorant are not at all unusual. Adam himself portrays his distaste for us as a result of never having sex, partly because of his appearance, which I think is quite comical when you think about it. What is attractive or not is a matter of definition, and it's not just the ideal-looking men who have "normal" sex lives."
It's clear that these poor incels harbor a painful self-hatred, and the belief that women should only be attracted to a certain type of man permeates the forums. Adam suggests that an attractive man, that is, one that women want to have sex with, should ideally have defined jawbones, blue eyes and a certain type of skull shape, and yes, the list goes on.
I, on the other hand, have no doubt that Adam or any of the other misogynistic men could have had an honest sex life if they had made a little effort instead of engaging in aggressive writings in various incel forums. Now it may certainly be over for poor Adam, after he came out with his misogynistic views in Cold facts.
Mental illness
Loneliness must be terrible, and the taboo surrounding mental illness is probably partly the reason why so many men choose to isolate themselves from the outside world. The funny thing is how they choose to blame us women for their, as far as they know, unattainable sex lives. Maybe it's thanks to all the hours we women put into therapy that there is no female incel movement? (JFL) We all know that women's self-hatred is often a consequence of the societal ideals and norms that still exist today. Wonder why we still don't feel the need to rape and murder men, who incidentally, directly or indirectly, also uphold these norms and ideals.
We women can't break their isolation, and incels are really just classic misogynists trying to find an explanation for it.
Presumably, the misogyny of these incels towards men already existed long before they were even sexually mature, and the issue of involuntary celibacy is rather an afterthought.
