Pretty much this. Once you fall out of society's norms you simply stop relating to these news stories. I don't have kids, nor will I ever have so another dead kid is like another dead adult. While an average normal adult has probably achieved more in his life than I did so I don't feel like his departure from this world is too hasty. I get more emotional reading goodbye posts or hearing about incel suicide, because that hits home much harder. Same reason why I couldn't care less for normie depression as their reasons for being depressed are often inherent parts of my life.
