any issues gaming on linux mint?
windows 11 sucks real hard.

most software is subscribtion ripoff, bloatware, spyware, maleware.
and they actively prevent users from using 3rd party good shit with some fag feature called smart app control.

it's also glitchy. sometimes I quit cyberpunk and then I have to hard power button to restart.

how is linux mint actually?

I've had no problems with games on mint when playing through Steam.

Mostly problem free, but I do have a few sticking points.

If you want to play games with a kernel level anti-cheat system, then you’re going to need Windows.

I use mint and i run into problems all the time even in steam but nothing that AIs and youtube cant solve

if you play games with that in the first place you're such goycattle you probably should stay using Windows

My big question for linuxcels is how do convert my windows files to linux files? I've gotta alot of stuff I want to transfer over because windows 11 sucks.

i run cachyos and every game i play works well with either bottles or with steam proton. i suppose it will be the same case for linux mint

that really depends on what it is

images, videos, movies, documents, etc can be transferred to an external backup drive (since you will lose your hdd contents when you install linux)

however you will need new (linux equivalent) software

have you tried Windows 10 IoT LTSC Enterprise?

i dont like linux mint at all , 1st of all the lack of plasma support , 2nd the default cinnamon DE looks ugly. if i were to be honest for a beginner /gaming focused distro i would recommend the following :

bazzite - fedora based made for gaming , easy to install drivers
garuda - arch based also made for gaming
kubuntu - ubuntu spin with kde desktop environment (not made for gaming but its fine
maybe cachyos but its abit more difficult

You may have to turn off secure boot if you have gpu driver issues

most things would work completely fine , but op would need to specify what he needs to transfer

Any game worth playing with one of those can be emulated.

There are no real issues anymore except for games with niggery anti-cheat (I don't play them so I can't comment on this), Steam has been massively investing into Linux support. AMD's performance on Linux is on par/outpaces Windows 11 in many cases, especially if your PC would benefit from a lighter OS. Personally, I get 2x the performance I do on Windows on my PC (Ryzen 5 5600G & 6500 XT). If you have an Nvidia card you should try the Nvidia open source drivers.

I think you can transfer your files if you dual boot Linux. Otherwise you have to put them on a hard drive.

Nope. I use windows. Don't see a point in making my life harder by using linux.

I like mint. Dont have any issues with performance compared to windows which takes so much ram (not to get into telemetry and that stupid fag ai slop they force down our throat) only thing i dont like is how hard it is to play games in stretch res (cs). But otherwise would recommend since mint is very beginner friendly and you can game without issues.

u just install drivers and that's it.

I only play l4D2, visual novels, and emulators but everything works great. Linux mint is such a better operating system tho. Such a cleaner interface and less bloatware.

Basically what proudweeb said.
However, depending on what distro you use you'll be able to dualboot for some time allowing you to transfer data.

In terms of software, it depends on what you're using.
If most of your software is open source, it's probably already on linux.
If you rarely use apps not on the web, you don't need to do much.

In terms of gaming, as long as most of your games are singleplayer and on Steam you should be good to go. Proton will have you covered.
If however you play a lot of multiplayer games (particularly with anticheat) you'll no longer be able to play them.

If you use certain professional grade proprietary software (e.g. Adobe) switching to Linux is probs a non-starter for you.
