Not really- can't be depressed about things if you realize there is no meaning to life as a whole and you are just a very complex biochemical puppet without free will. Events kind of happens around you and it doesn't bother you that much, since you don't take part and they don't carry any inherent meaning or value.
I personally call it a "passive" cope, because, once aquired, it mitigates depression and negative thoughts without further effort/input.
