Cultural and social norms would in all likelihood be stronger within families than among non-related individuals (Eaves et al., 2013). It is also likely that other, unobserved aspects of attractiveness (facial features, weight, intelligence) are also more similar among brothers. Our study therefore provides strong evidence that height is a direct determinant of the likelihood of being ever-married (although not of the timing of marriage).
