Either had your devices or accounts compromised.

I had an old Acer Laptop that ran windows 10 got pwned years ago, after that I just factory reset it and bought a new laptop.

Ironically my Twitter account got hacked as well (thanks to some massive data breach leaking it) I soon changed the password and stopped using it since.

unfortunately, yeah. used to be in the cs cheating com so gained a bit of notoriety and got hacked because of it. discord, yt got hacked so i just factory reset and left the community.

only once but it was just very old email accounts leaked in a massive data breach, i've essentially never used windows in my life so most viruses etc don't affect me much

When you say pwned I thought you meant punched in the head, but no.

Or no wait actually yes, I did get hacked once. It was my contacts.

yeah I never updated that shitty laptop but to be honest it was already struggling to even browse normally because windows loves bloatware and unnecessary shit eating your RAM.

One of the big reasons why i've switched to linux almost 10 years ago, such a cleaner experience without too much of the worry of viruses or bloatware shit at least for now

looking back I should've installed linux on that but that was before i even knew linux was a thing with it being my first own laptop.

If you play games on your PC, do you have a problem running them on Linux? I was thinking of switching for a while now but didn't know if I would be able to play with a Linux OS

I had this self-replicating USB virus in ca.2006 on my old XP machine. Then a few years later I downloaded css hacks and my mouse suddenly started moving by itself. Some nigger took control over my pc, started chatting with me, but they didn't steal anything because my steam account was worthless back then.

In previous years about half a decade ago yeah it was a big problem, but nowaday lots of games run just fine under proton on linux, games with certian anti-cheats don't work just because they straight up ban linux by choice but a good amount work, you can check protondb.com for games to see how well they work

Interesting but games with those anti-cheats are often like really top titles and you can still run into certain compatibility issues along with a much bigger hassle of getting shit to work.

Honestly, I don't play that many multiplayer games at all because everything is too fucking competitive and I don't wanna deal with that bullshit. Are single player games less likely to have problems?

I've played a decent amount of games without doing pretty much anything, I'm not the biggest gamer so my collection really isn't that major but most games will work quite fine, but yeah the big top titles with the anti-cheat are still a problem, so I think titles like fortnite, valorant, pubg, warzone, etc don't work but I don't play those games anyways, and i've not thought about if a game would work or not in quite a while on linux

how'd you resolve this? :feelswhere:

This happened so long ago, but I probably disconnected from the internet and reinstalled windows. Once a machine had malware on it, it's compromised and reinstall is the best option IMO.

Too trucel to have all this cool shit happen to me

I am old enough to have had my modem (not a router, a modem) hacked into calling foreign expensive numbers in the 90s. At the time you coud complain to the phone company and not pay it.

Being hacked personally by someone, no, but getting malicious software yes, it was very long time ago, like around 2011-2012.

Got my steam account stolen once, but got it back with help of steam support
