It's a common trend that "hard work leads to more work" and I can say, this is fairly true.
For you, It demonstrates you are capable of doing that much within a given time, so if you are capable, you must be the most capable as you can, according to your bosses. More work for the same price.
For everyone else, they want to compete, but if everyone is hard working, no one is. Thus, the standard of "hard work" is further raised, rendering everyone's achievements meaningless. This is known as Involution in Chinese language.
