Hal was an incel who was obsessed with his oneitis Roxanne who thought he was weird but had to be nice to him for her job. After seeing his oneitis making out with some random dude and acting lovey dovey with him you go home and are given powers by some magician. Then the first thing you do is try to go impress her and all she does is shut you down and never give you a chance. What would you do? Would you want to be “the good guy”? No. You would not. You would freak out and destroy everything. Then when she tries to stop you by pretending to be your friend, would you stop? No, obviously not. You know she doesn’t actually care about you. You want to take your revenge on her constantly breaking your heart that you perceived to be on purpose whether it was or not.
Hal is the most representation we ever had in media. He is a main character and becomes ultra-powerful in the movie. I don’t know how nobody else has said this here yet. He is the true anti-hero of the movie. He was wronged in the movie and took his vengeance on those who hurt him. He is what we all would do if we were given powers (some of you would probably do a lot worse though) and we should appreciate him in my opinion
