every 100 posts you get a star till you get a new colour of username, then it resets to 0 and so on

Every 100 posts you get an extra star. Then every 500 posts you go back to one star, and your colour ticks up.
So after 500 posts your name turns blue, then 1000 is cyan, 1500 is green and so on.
