Good looks are not just for the sake of good looks. They clearly show man's good genes that in turn give him many talents. It's mostly good guys who are extremely good at things, so the halo effect from looks is not neccesserily 100% biased. These good genes men are always the ones showing off with their talents, like ability to eat tons of spicy food, hold their breath for 5 minutes, do some crazy impressive physical stunts, stunt on their bikes, with their cars, or even something like sounds imitiating (which actually is a very important trait in animals, not so much in humans anymore), etc. It comes easy to them and they make it look easy, while you would fail at those things 99/100 tries.
