Reze is well written, she starts out solely in it for Denji’s heart but slowly falls in love, torn away by Makima at the end. Makima is a good slow burn villain whose intentions are unclear throughout the majority of the anime (and still haven’t fully been revealed if you haven’t read the manga). Denji represents pure hedonism and the chase of a luxurious lifestyle, but feels empty when he obtains it, wanting love more than anything else. Good plot points, not afraid to kill off characters (to its detriment in the manga), it’s not Evangelion but I would be lying if I said the first part wasn’t well written.
They made anime into one of their performative social flexes and took away everything beautiful about it, among which communities and fansubs, without a care in the world for the culture.
They made manga and manga scanlation into a foid worshiping environment. More than 3/4 of the scanlators nowadays are women. It just doesn't make sense, until you realize that's why it seems like the only new projects are shoujo romance and yaoi. Their translation skills are fucking daunting, too; to top it all off, paywallers, machine translations and donation whoring. From IRC releases to website scraping aggregators. Localization instead of faithfulness to the Japanese version. It's a dead hobby for me tbh, now that I put it into words I realize it, why I haven't touched anything since I quit scanlating.

Yeah it had a good run and it needs to stop now, before they drive it to complete destruction. I just watch old arthouse/mecha anime movies from the 60s and 70s and it scratches the itch for me
It's been happening forever tbh, in the 90s with Sailor Moon, Dragonball and Pokémon these are just the most obvious ones, but also the 4Kids dub of Dragon Maid (honestly we all should've realized what was about to happen after that fucking dub)
