The West was crazy busted in the 90s
. The EU dominated trade in the Eastern Hemisphere, and even then its total trade was lower than the US'. Now just a generation later, China has overtaken the EU especially as the top trading partner of most of the world, and both of them have higher total trade volumes than the US, which now has only a single country in the entire Eastern Hemisphere (Jordan) of which it is the biggest trade partner.
